Police are looking for a man who jewelry store clerks say shoplifted a ring containing three carats of diamonds.
The theft occurred at about 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Henry B. Ball Jewelers store at 2291 W. Market St., according to Akron police.
Store workers believe the man distracted them with questions and while they were not watching, he opened a jewelry case and removed the diamond ring.
He had removed a second ring, but was stopped and the jewelry was returned to the case. He left the store in a car with Florida license plates before workers discovered the first ring missing.
The ring is on an 18-carat gold band with a 2-carat center diamond surrounded by two oval cut diamonds on either side and 14 smaller diamonds.
Anyone with information may call Akron police at 330-375-2490.
