All About The Clarity Of Diamonds
By http://www.sunrisejewelry.com/
Clarity is an important aspect of a diamond, and it is important to know how to grade the clarity of a diamond before you buy one. It is actually quite easy to learn how to grade the clarity of a diamond. There are basically two things that you must understand: Diamonds with visual inclusions and blemishes, and those that are eye clean meaning that there are no inclusions or blemishes that can be seen with the naked eye. From there, the clarity of a diamond is further broken down into subcategories. Many people mistakenly think that diamond clarity refers to how clear it is. This isnt
so. Clarity actually refers to the internal and external imperfections of the diamond. The best diamonds, of course get a grade of FL or IF Flawless or Internally Flawless meaning that it is perfect. A grade of I-1, I-2 or I-3 means that the diamond is imperfect, with a grade of I-3 being the worst. Other grades are VVS1 and VVS2, which means that the diamond is very, very slightly imperfect; VS1 and VS2, meaning the diamond is very slightly imperfect; SI-1 and SI-2, which means that the diamond is slightly imperfect. Black Diamond Performance Brakes
Since their launch in 1992 the Black Diamond performance brake disc and pad range has gone from strength to strength. The first fast car test in 1995 in which black diamond was awarded the win against all the other major brands, it became clear that all the design and testing work prior to the launch was so very worth while. The 24 groove disc, the groove shape and profile and the post machining heat treatment all playing their part in making this product a world beater.
In 1996 Black Diamond were invited to take part in the first Max Power magazine awards test against all the other major world brands in the performance braking market, Black Diamond came out on top by such a huge margin that Max Power decided not to issue a second place prize! Our competitors were forced to wake up and in the next years awards we came equal first with another brand and in the next awards 1998 / 1999 after a Black Diamond pad compound tweak (Black Diamond Predator), Black Diamond won out right again and is still the current Max Power award holder. Now with over 1050 part numbers in the range we believe this to be the largest range of performance brakes in the world!

Bodycote Diamond Black (PVD Coating) Receives Recognition
Conover, North Carolina —By an overwhelming vote of trade industry members, Kershaw’s new Black Chive knife coated by Bodycote’s Diamond Black facility in Conover, NC was selected as The Blade Magazine’s 2001 American-Made Knife of the Year. The winner is chosen based on a range of criteria—from form and function to craftsmanship and quality. “People are saying that it’s the right design, in the right size, from the right company,” said Blade’s Steve McGowen. “Plus it has a very cool finish.”
The right-sized Chive features a 1 15/16-inch blade of premium high-carbon 420 stainless steel and measures just 2 7/8-inches closed. It weighs 1.9 ounces. Its “cool finish” is Bodycote’s proprietary boron carbide surface treatment, which not only gives the Chive a sophisticated, gray color, but enhances performance, too.
Bodycote Diamond Black’s boron carbide is a thin ceramic film with nano-crystalline structure applied in vacuum chambers via physical vapor deposition. The coating is incredibly durable—93 to 95 RC. It is chip, crack, and peel resistant, coats to a razor edge, and is heat resistant to 2732 degrees F. Best of all, because the Chive’s unique boron coating is impervious to most harsh chemicals, acids, and bases, it virtually eliminates corrosion and maintains its lubrication longer. In other words, a little oil goes a long way on the new Chive.
“We’re proud to help our customers achieve recognition in their respective industries.” Said Darrell Lewis, General Manager of Bodycote Diamond Black. “We are continuing to expand the influence of boron carbide coatings into a number of industries. We expect our technology to drive further product innovation in the knife industry.”
Note:
Bodycote Thermal Processing is comprised of nearly 60 thermal processing facilities across North America. Various thermal processing techniques are utilized for the automotive, aerospace, military, agricultural, oil field, consumer product and other market segments. All facilities either NADCAP, ISO-9000 or QS-9000 certified.
